Internship Program
Internship Program

Our church planting internship is designed for the benefit both of individuals intending to minister in the urban context and particular urban congregations. For the intern, it is a way of gaining pastoral experience under the guidance of ordained ministers; cultivating a philosophy of ministry for the city; developing skills for planting new urban congregations, and fulfilling the requirements for ordination in the Presbyterian Church in America.

The church gains, not only in training pastors for Christ's church, but from the intern's active service among the people of a particular congregation. Therefore, the program is ideally suited for, but not limited to, individuals who are currently enrolled in or completing a Master of Divinity. We anticipate that individuals applying to the program will have a strong desire to start new churches in Brooklyn. The program is designed to function as an aspect of an assessing process for church planting.

Application: Applications for the internship are due by March 1, 2012. The program runs from August 1, 2012 through July 31, 2014. You can download a an application here.

Cost: Interns receive a stipend of $12,000 the first year, $6000 the second year and health insurance throughout the program. Participants in the program are required to raise additional funds to cover living expenses. Before arriving, two-thirds of the first year's expenses must be received and two-thirds of all support must be pledged. All contributions are tax-deductible and should be made to Brooklyn Church Project.
